The Red woods, Hollywood, Venice Beach, The Golden Gate Bridge, Yosemite National Park, Disneyland, and Lake Tahoe aren’t the only attractions California has to offer. The feature that attracted me the most as a young adult is their wide variety of colleges with the National Exchange program. The National Exchange program is one of a kind and California is the state holding the most opportunities for it.
The National Exchange program is for students who want to expand there learning and travel to a different school, possibly out of state for the same tuition as instate. This program helps kids get away for a couple of months and study in a new environment.
This program specifically catches my attention because getting out of the cold weather and into the warm weather sounds amazing. Only a certain amount of colleges per state offer this program so if you’re interested be careful when choosing a college. In the state of Iowa, Iowa State and the University of Northern Iowa include the National Exchange Program. Now if you’re like me and want to study somewhere warm, California might be a good option.
In California you can choose from eight colleges with the National Exchange program. These eight colleges are found throughout the whole state and are known for different majors. The eight colleges are California Polytechnic State U, San Luis Obispo, California State University, Bakersfield, California State University Chico, California State University, Eastbay, California State University Monterey Bay, California State University, Northridge, California State University, San Bernardino and Sonoma State University. All of these colleges have many opportunities for different likes. I suggest checking them out if you’re looking to do a fun trip for only one semester of college. California would be a nice get away with a lot of culture to embrace and adventure.
If you’re not interested in traveling to California, there are many other colleges across the country with this opportunity. Go check out this website to see if the college you’re looking into has the National Exchange program. I highly encourage this program as you get to add a whole different perspective into your college experience. Don’t just settle for one college, take advantage of the world and go to a couple colleges.
